To facilitate the design process, I have defined a color palette that I use throughout
my website and other projects. The colors are inspired by the RAL color system and are used to create a consistent
and harmonious visual appearance.
Constraints are important in design. I find that having a limited set of colors to work with
helps keep things clean. Choosing only from a predefined set of colors allows me to focus
more on the mood of the color instead of deciding between single RGB values. I chose RAL
colors, since they give off this German industrial vibe, also my dad thinks in these colors
since they are broadly used in metal work, so maybe it's just a force of habit. Maybe I just
like them.
Now that I look at this palette a little longer, I notice it's roughly the same color scheme I use throughout my apartment... So I guess I really do like them.
My favorite color is RAL 8022. It's a dark brown/black that I find very soothing and calming. I first discovered it while deciding for a color in which to paint the metal parts of my studio desk I had built by my dad and a friend of his. Since then I have painted some other parts in my studio with it (mainly lamps) and written almost all text in this color.
